Things To Do
Cold Shivers Point is one of Colorado National Monument’s most dramatic and spectacular overlooks. The viewpoint above narrow Columbus Canyon perches on the edge of a 300-foot Wingate Sandstone cliff that’s certain to give every acrophobic traveler a chill down their spine when they peer over the sharp cliff edge. The wheelchair-accessible overlook is best approached by driving up Rim Rock Drive from the monument’s east entrance since the road reaches the canyon rim at the viewpoint. Walk out a short paved trail to the fenced overlook from a small roadside parking lot. Look left from the overlook to the head of the canyon. The view to the right looks down the short canyon to Grand Junction in the valley beyond.
