Movie rundown for the weekend through March 9: ‘In the Lost Lands’ opens

OPENING

“In the Lost Lands” — (Action, R, 101 minutes). After being sent by the queen to the wilderness of the Lost Lands, a sorceress and her guide must outfight and outwit man and demon.

“Mickey 17” — (Action, R, 137 minutes). An expendable named Mickey 17 takes a dangerous journey to try to colonize an ice planet.

“Music Night: LIVE from Nashville!” — (Music, not rated, 120 minutes). A live broadcast from Nashville showcasing the unknown songwriters of radio’s biggest hits.

“Night of the Zoopocalypse” — (Animation, PG, 91 minutes). After a meteor unleashes a virus that turns zoo animals into zombies, a wolf and mountain lion team up with other survivors to try to rescue the zoo and stop the virus from spreading.

“Novocaine” Early Access — (Action, R, 110 minutes). A man who cannot feel physical pain uses his rare condition in the fight to rescue the girl of his dreams who was kidnapped.

“Queen of the Ring” — (Biography, PG-13, 130 minutes). When it was illegal for women to participate in pro wrestling in the U.S., a small-town single mother dominated the sport and became the first million-dollar female pro wrestler.

“Rule Breakers” — (Drama, PG, 120 minutes). In a nation where educating girls is rebellion, a visionary woman sparks opposition and hope that may transform their nation forever.

“The Rule of Jenny Pen” — (Horror, R, 103 minutes). A former judge who is trapped within his body because of a stroke and is confined to a secluded rest home must find a way to stop a psychopath who uses a puppet to abuse and kill the home’s residents.

“There’s Still Tomorrow” — (Comedy, not rated, 118 minutes). A mother and working-class wife dreams of a better future in postwar Rome.

ONGOING

“A Complete Unknown” — (Biography, R, 141 minutes). Grade: A-, Scott Mervis. An unknown 19-year-old Bob Dylan arrived in New York in 1961 with his guitar and revolutionary talent, on his path to changing the course of American music.

“A Sloth Story” — (Animated, PG, 90 minutes). After a storm destroys their home, a sloth named Laura and her family pack up and move to the big city, hoping to make their food truck business successful.

“Anora” — (Comedy, R, 139 minutes). Once news reaches Russia that Anora, a young sex worker from Brooklyn, marries the son of an oligarch, her parents travel to New York to get the marriage annulled.

“Becoming Led Zeppelin” — (Documentary, PG-13, 121 minutes). Tells about each band member’s musical influences and careers before they released the band’s first two albums.

“Captain America: Brave New World” — (Action, PG-13, 118 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. When the new Captain America, Sam Wilson, becomes involved in an international incident, he must uncover the motive behind a nefarious global plan.

“Chhaava” — (Drama, not rated, 161 minutes). Based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

“Cleaner” — (Action, R, 96 minutes). After criminal activists take 300 hostages at a gala with the intent to commit mass murder as a statement to the world, an ex-soldier turned window cleaner tries to rescue the hostages.

“Companion” — (Thriller, R, 97 minutes). While on a weekend trip at a lakeside estate, the death of the billionaire owner causes a chain of events for Iris and her friends.

“Den of Thieves 2: Pantera” — (Action, R, 144 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. Big Nick is in Europe searching for Donnie, who is involved with diamond thieves and the Panther mafia.

“Dog Man” — (Adventure, PG, 89 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Half dog and half man, Dog Man pursues a feline supervillain named Petey the Cat.

“Flight Risk” — (Action, R, 91 minutes). A pilot transporting an air marshal and a fugitive soon realizes that not everyone on board is who they seem to be.

“Heart Eyes” — (Horror, R, 97 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. As done in the past, the Heart Eyes Killer will be stalking and murdering romantic couples again this Valentine’s Day.

“I’m Still Here” — (Drama, PG-13, 136 minutes). After her husband is captured by a military regime in 1964 in Brazil, a mother must reinvent herself after her family’s life is shattered.

“Laaj Sharanam” — (Comedy, not rated, 159 minutes). Follows the diverse lives of people living in a rural community.

“Last Breath” — (Thriller, PG-13, 93 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. A true story about deep-sea divers who battle the elements to rescue a crew member trapped hundreds of feet below the ocean’s surface.

“Love Hurts” — (Action, R, 83 minutes). After receiving a message from his past partner-in-crime that he left for dead, Marvin realizes he must confront his past and the history he thought he had buried forever.

“Moana 2” — (Adventure, PG, 100 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. After Moana receives an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, she journeys to the far seas of Oceania and finds herself on an adventure unlike any adventure she has ever been on before.

“Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX: Beginning” — (Anime, not rated, 81 minutes). A stolen prototype Gundam goes missing during a war between Zeon and Earth Federation. Years later, while searching for answers about her powers, a girl is found piloting a new Gundam.

“The Monkey” — (Horror, R, 98 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. When they were young, twin brothers Bill and Hal found their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, causing a series of deaths that tore the family apart. Now, 25 years later, the monkey is on a new killing spree.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” — (Action, PG, 120 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Mufasa, an orphaned cub, and Taka, an heir to a royal bloodline, join a group of misfits while searching for their destiny.

“My Dead Friend Zoe” — (Comedy, R, 98 minutes). A female Afghanistan veteran is isolated from the world because of her relationship with her dead best friend from the Army.

“No Other Land” — (Documentary, not rated, 92 minutes). Basel Adra, a Palestinian activist has an unlikely alliance with a journalist from the other side while he films his country of Masafer Yatta being destroyed by Israel’s occupation.

“One of Them Days” — (Comedy, R, 119 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. After roommates Alyssa and Dreux discover that Alyssa’s boyfriend has spent all the rent money, they have to go to extremes to keep from getting evicted.

Oscar Nominated Shorts — (Special event, not rated). Three categories offered, animated, live action and documentary.

“Paddington in Peru” — (Adventure, PG, 101 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. While in Peru visiting his Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears, Paddington and the Brown family end up on a thrilling adventure after a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey.

“The Real Sister (Chi Dau)” — (Drama, not rated, 100 minutes). Four sisters are gathered together by a secretly ill sister-in-law and when shocking secrets are revealed the sisters’ bond is tested.

“Riff Raff” — (Comedy, R, 103 minutes). Ex-criminal Vincent is living a normal, peaceful life with his wife and their son until his old family shows up and tells him that gangsters Leftie and Lonnie are coming for him and his new family.

“Superboys of Malegaon” — (Comedy, PG-13, 127 minutes). A filmmaker and a group of his friends produce a film for his town of Malegaon.

“The Unbreakable Boy” — (Drama, PG, 119 minutes). Grade: C-, Katie Walsh. A boy with a rare brittle bone disease and autism transforms and unites everyone around him with his joyous, funny and life-affirming view of the world.

“Universal Language” — (Comedy, not rated, 89 minutes). The lives of various people cross paths in surprising ways somewhere between Tehran and Winnipeg.
