Man reportedly stabbed during late-night fishing trip at Colorado lake
A man reports he was stabbed while late-night fishing at Colorado’s McKay Lake, according to the Westminster Police Department.
The incident unfolded on the night of Aug. 25, just before 11 p.m., with law enforcement discovering blood near the lake’s shoreline upon arrival. Further investigation revealed that a 60-year-old man had called 911 to report the incident, then driving himself to a nearby hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound.
Once authorities caught up with the man, he reported that he had been fishing on the southwest shoreline of McKay Lake with an unknown individual who was wearing a rain jacket and shorts. The person he was fishing with then left, and about 30 minutes later, the man says he was stabbed by another unknown individual.
The victim described the suspect in the case as a male wearing a dark-colored rain jacket and dark pants. Officers searched the area and made contact with two people though these individuals appeared to not be involved in the stabbing.
Law enforcement is now asking those who were in the area on Monday night to contact the Westminster Police Department with information that may be related to the case. The number to call is 303-658-4360.
