Continued unsettled weather conditions on Wednesday will bring more rain to metro Denver as monsoonal flows stay locked in place.

Denverites can expect showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 3 and 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Otherwise, it’ll be mostly cloudy, with a high near 81 today. Calm winds become north northeast between 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tonight there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms. It’ll be mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. North winds between 5 to 7 mph become light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Rainfall totals across metro Denver have varied since the monsoon rains started Friday afternoon. Most weather stations used by the NWS or in conjunction with the NWS have recorded between 0.01 inches all the way to over 1.3 inches so far.

The ASOS/AWOS weather station at Denver International Airport has recorded 1.38 inches of rain from 5 a.m. Aug. 23 to 6 a.m. Aug. 27, however, the DUDFCD weather station at the Denver Zoo in central Denver has only recorded 0.16 inches of rain during that same time period.

Thursday and Friday are forecast to be wet and cooler before some drying out starts on Saturday and through weekend. High temperatures right around 80 degrees, however, during that time frame.

Labor Day Monday should see high temperatures finally return to the mid 80s as continued drying out occurs.

Here’s the 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms likely after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 79. Calm wind becoming east northeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Friday: A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind becoming west northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Sunny, with a high near 81.
