Movie rundown for the weekend through Jan. 19: One of Them Days’ and more

OPENING

“One of Them Days” — (Comedy, R, 119 minutes). After roommates Alyssa and Dreux discover that Alyssa’s boyfriend has spent all the rent money, they have to go to extremes to keep from getting evicted.

“Nickel Boys” — (Drama, PG-13, 140 minutes). Based on Colson Whitehead’s book “Nickel Boys,” tells about two African-American friends going through the trials of a Florida reform school together.

“September 5” — (Drama, R, 96 minutes). Members of an American broadcasting crew find themselves covering the hostage crisis of Israeli athletes during the 1972 Munich Olympics.

“Wolf Man” — (Suspense, R, 103 minutes). While at a remote farmhouse, a family is attacked by an unseen animal and during the night the father transforms into something unrecognizable.

ONGOING

“A Complete Unknown” — (Biography, R, 141 minutes). Grade: A-, Scott Mervis. An unknown 19-year-old Bob Dylan arrived in New York in 1961 with his guitar and revolutionary talent, on his path to changing the course of American music.

“Babygirl” — (Thriller, R, 114 minutes). Grade: A, Katie Walsh. A high-powered CEO jeopardizes her career and family when she has an affair with her young intern.

“Better Man” — (Drama, R, 142 minutes). Based on the story of the rise, fall and resurgence of British pop star Robbie Williams.

“The Brutalist” — (Drama, not rated, 215 minutes). An architect and his wife’s lives are changed when they go to Europe to rebuild their legacy and meet a wealthy and mysterious client.

“The Count of Monte Cristo” — (Adventure, not rated, 178 minutes). After Edmond Dantès, who was wrongly accused of state treason, is released from prison after 14 years, he returns to being the Count of Monte Cristo to seek revenge on the men who betrayed him.

“Daaku Maharaaj” — (Action, not rated, 150 minutes). A robber is trying to establish his own territory and become a king without a kingdom.

“The Damned” — (Horror, R, 89 minutes). After a foreign ship sinks off the coast of an Icelandic fishing village during a cruel winter, a widow and her community must decide either to rescue the shipwrecked crew or use the ship’s provisions for their own survival.

“Den of Thieves 2: Pantera” — (Action, R, 144 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. Big Nick is in Europe searching for Donnie, who is involved with diamond thieves and the Panther mafia.

“The Fire Inside” — (Biography, PG-13, 109 minutes). The story of Claressa “T-Rex” Shields, a boxer from Flint, Mich., who went on to become an Olympic gold medalist.

“Game Changer” — (Action, not rated, 170 minutes). An honest IAS officer fights a corrupt political system with a transparent and fair election.

“Gladiator II” — (Action, R, 148 minutes). Grade: B Katie Walsh. Lucius must look to his past to find a way to return the glory of Rome to its people after it’s conquered by tyrannical emperors.

“The Goonies” 40th Anniversary — (Adventure, PG, 115 minutes). After finding an ancient map, The Goonies, a group of young misfits, go on an adventure to find a pirate’s lost treasure.

“Homestead” — (Action, PG-13, 110 minutes). After a nuclear bomb goes off in Los Angeles, causing complete chaos, ex-Green Beret Jeff Eriksson and his family move to The Homestead, a fortress in the mountains. As the apocalyptic conditions move toward The Homestead, residents are stuck between the military compulsions of veteran operators and the rural values of family members.

“Kraven the Hunter” — (Action, R, 127 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. Kraven’s relationship with his ruthless father drives him down a path of vengeance, making him want to be the best and most feared hunter in the world.

“The Last Showgirl” — (Drama, R, 149 minutes). Grade: B, Moira MacDonald. A showgirl must plan for the future when her show closes after a 30-year run.

“Moana 2” — (Adventure, PG, 100 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. After Moana receives an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, she journeys to the far seas of Oceania and finds herself on an adventure unlike any adventure she has ever been on before.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” — (Action, PG, 120 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Mufasa, an orphaned cub, and Taka, an heir to a royal bloodline, join a group of misfits while searching for their destiny.

“Night Call” — (Action, not rated, 97 minutes). Mady has one night to prove he is innocent after helping out Claire who is not who she claims to be.

“Nosferatu” — (Horror, R, 133 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. A gothic story about the horror caused by the obsession between a haunted young woman and the vampire who is infatuated with her.

“The Room Next Door” — (Drama, PG-13, 107 minutes). Close friends in their youth, Ingrid and Martha meet again after years of being out of touch.

“Sing Sing” — (Drama, R, 105 minutes). Divine G, who is at Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose when he starts acting in a theatre group with other incarcerated men.

“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” — (Action, PG, 110 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. Sonic, Knuckles and Tails must seek out an unlikely alliance to help defeat Shadow, a villain with powers stronger than any they have faced in the past.

“Wicked” — (Fairy Tale, PG, 160 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. Elphaba’s and Glinda’s friendship reaches a crossroads after an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
