Former Broncos star Tom Jackson to serve as Randy Gradishar’s Hall of Fame presenter

Former Broncos star linebacker Tom Jackson will serve as Randy Gradishar’s presenter when he is inducted Aug. 3 into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Gradishar, a Denver linebacker from 1974-83, was named to the Hall of Fame on Thursday night at NFL Honors in Las Vegas, site of Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday between Kansas City and San Francisco. And on Friday, the Broncos announced that Jackson will be his presenter.

“Tommy’s a great guy,’’ Gradishar told the team’s website. “We’re great friends. I asked him … a few weeks ago if he would do that presentation for me back in Canton.”

Gradishar had learned on Jan. 26, when he was surprised by the Broncos during a visit to the Centura Health Training Center, that he had been elected to the Hall of Fame. Among those on hand for the surprise was Jackson, who starred for the Broncos from 1973-86 and is in their Ring of Fame. He later was a popular ESPN studio analyst.

Gradishar had considered several candidates to serve as his presenter, including Joe Collier, his Denver defensive coordinator. Collier, 91, uses a walker and said he won’t be able to attend the enshrinement.

“I won’t be able to make it with my mobility,’’ he said.

Collier had been pushing for Gradishar for years to make the Hall of Fame and was thrilled to see it finally happen.

“I’m very happy for him,’’ Collier said.
