‘Power issue’ takes down Denver’s non-emergency service line

The Denver Police Department’s non-emergency was down for more than a day and a half, according to posts from the department’s social media.

The outage, which began early Wednesday morning was restored shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday, according to officials.

A spokesperson for the Denver Department of Public Safety told The Denver Gazette that the outage, which only impacted the city’s non-emergency line, 720-913-2000 was caused by “a power issue with one of our vendors.”

Communications Director Kelly Jacobs said that the city’s 911 and 311 were”still operating normally” and those needing emergency assistance should continue to call 911.

For non-emergency services, residents may submit a report online or once again, call 720-913-2000 for non-emergency services.

In May, an issue within one of the city’s server environments due to a bug on the vendor’s side took down the city’s website for several hours and impacted services include the Denver Police Department’s non-emergency line as well as the ability to process some payments in-person.
