Evacuations ordered along Vallecito Creek

Evacuations have been ordered along Vallecito Creek due to a levee breach, according to the Upper Pine River Fire Protection.

At 10:08 a.m., the Upper Pine River Fire Protection announced immediate evacuations of West Vallecito Creek Drive due to breaches of the levee on the west side of the creek.

In a post on Friday evening, the agency posted on Facebook urging situational awareness for those in the North End of Vallecito. They agency reported that the stream gauges in Vallecito Creek had alerted at 1040 CFS due to high spring run off.

The heaviest rain was reportedly due at around 11 p.m. on Friday.

Upper Pine River Fire Protection also said that they will not be answering the phone, as their staff is busy evacuating homes.
