Man airlifted after car strikes boulder and goes airborne on Colorado pass

A 28-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries after swerving his vehicle into a boulder and going airborne along US 24 in Cascade, just west of Colorado Springs.

According to a report on the matter from the Colorado Springs Gazette, the incident took place at westbound mile marker 295, which is right around where one of the last major turns of Ute Pass is located. After going airborne, the vehicle rolled, ultimately getting stuck in a tree. Images from the scene show that the vehicle appears to be standing on its nose.

The driver of the vehicle is a resident of Cascade. Authorities are looking into alcohol as a possible factor in the crash.
