Broncos at Texans | The Denver Gazette’s predictions
The Denver Gazette sports staff predicts Sunday’s game between the Broncos and the Houston Texans at NGR Stadium in Houston:
Paul Klee’s pick: Texans 23, Broncos 22
Houston, of all places, has hosted several outstanding Broncos memories in recent years. Peyton Manning set the single-season touchdowns record (51) there in 2013. Even Drew Lock had a moment, throwing three scores that sent Broncos Country into a tizzy in 2019. Sunday will be must-see TV. And a loss.
Overall record: 6-2
Chris Schmaedeke’s pick: Broncos 17, Texans 16
We have all seen this not-pretty Broncos game before but this one Denver pulls out. The dominant defenses of both teams own the day, but Denver comes up with more stops in the red zone while the offense once again leans on J.K. Dobbins.
Overall record: 5-3
Chris Tomasson’s pick: Broncos 23, Texans 20
The Broncos get revenge for a devastating 22-17 loss at Houston in Week 13 in 2023. After they had won five straight games, the Broncos lost when Russell Wilson threw an ill-advised interception in the end zone in the waning seconds. Wilson’s tenure in Denver fell apart after that. Now, Bo Nix can further show what a good move it was to dump Wilson.
Overall record: 6-2
Mark Kiszla’s pick: Texans 20, Broncos 19
Denver is trying to become the first team of this NFL season to win six games in a row. Winning six in a row is very difficult in the NFL. Deep in the heart, the Broncos experience a little heartbreak.
Overall record: 6-2
Kyle Fredrickson’s pick: Broncos 14, Texans 10
A round of applause for the Broncos defense. They win another game, with a fumble recovery touchdown, when the offense isn’t quite clicking. Denver has a knack for winning ugly games. But when does the lack of scoring rhythm set off alarm bells at Broncos Park? Questions remain about the offense against good teams.
Overall record: 5-3
