1. Anaheim Ducks at Avalanche (7:30 p.m. Tuesday, TNT/HBO Max) — Tune in for No. 1 in the West (the Avalanche, no surprise) vs. No. 2 in the West (the Ducks, big surprise) at Ball Arena.

2. Colorado State at New Mexico (1 p.m. Saturday, Altitude) — The Colorado State coaching search should begin with Loveland High grad Collin Klein, the Texas A&M offensive coordinator.

3. Kansas City Chiefs at Broncos (2:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15) — Despite a two-game lead, the Broncos (+125) are not a significant favorite to win the AFC West ahead of the Chiefs (+130).

Numbers game

71 — career triple-doubles recorded before the fourth quarter for basketball genius Nikola Jokic, whose first-three-quarters triple-doubles would still rank in the top 10 of all triple-doubles in NBA history 

Box office

Nov. 9, 1997 — Tyrone Braxton’s 27-yard interception return for a touchdown helped the Broncos (8-1) to a 34-0 win over the Panthers in Week 11 of their Super Bowl XXXII season

Final word

It’s no secret Broncos coach Sean Payton and radio guru Colin Cowherd are best friends forever. So it’s not for nothing that Cowherd suggested Friday the Broncos could draft a quarterback in 2026. Hmmm. Looks to me like Payton’s using his national media buds to motivate QB1 — or targeting a fall guy if these Broncos crater.
