Western Colorado football faces off with UT-Permian Basin in DII playoffs | Colorado Sunshine

Where the good news shines

The Western Colorado football team will continue its playoff push against a familiar foe.

The Mountaineers will welcome the University of Texas Permian Basin to Gunnison for an NCAA Division II playoff matchup. The game is set to kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday.

This is the third time in the last four seasons the teams will play, but this will be the first time in the postseason.

The defenses could be the stars of the game. Western’s scoring defense ranks eighth nationally, allowing 17 points per game, with UTPB ranked 18th, allowing just 18 points per game.

The winner of Saturday’s game will travel to either top-ranked Harding University or to Pittsburg State for the quarterfinals.
