Western Colorado drops OT heartbreaker to UT Permian Basin in NCAA Division II playoffs | Colorado Sunshine

Where good news shines

It took every play to beat Western Colorado football this season.

UT Permian Basin beat Western Colorado 21-15 in overtime at Mountaineer Bowl in Gunnison in the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs on Saturday. 

The Mountaineers lost a 15-0 lead in the fourth quarter and overtime. No. 15 Western Colorado (10-3) saw No. 10 UT Permian Basin (11-2) score the final 21 points.

UT Permian Basin improved to 4-1 against top-15 opponents. The Falcons had 471 yards of offense to the Mountaineers’ 219. Western Colorado quarterback Drew Nash threw for 101 yards and rushed for 67 yards. He threw one touchdown and one interception. 

Western Colorado’s three losses this season came on a pair of walk-off field goals and in Saturday’s overtime game.
