Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials Wednesday reminded visitors of daily vehicle pass fee increases at select state parks beginning in the new year.

Starting Thursday, daily fees are increased by $2 at four northwest Colorado state parks.

The fees are going up from $10 to $12 a day at Elkhead Reservoir, Pearl Lake, Stagecoach and Steamboat Lake State Park, according to CPW.

The $2 fee difference goes to Routt County for maintenance of roads serving access points into and out of the state parks. The price increase relates to a Colorado law adopted in 2023 that authorizes a local government to request state park fee increases. The maximum price increase is $2.

CPW approved the four-state-park fee increases in November.

A CPW spokesperson said the four parks are the only ones to see price increases.

Motorists with a Keep Colorado Wild pass on vehicle registrations aren’t impacted by daily pass fees. The pass, which costs $29 for a registered Colorado vehicle, supports state parks and outdoor educational programs.

As an enterprise agency, CPW is funded by license sales, state parks fees and registration fees to support operations. CPW manages 43 state parks and more than 350 wildlife areas across 900,000 acres in Colorado. CPW annually generates around $6 billion in economic impact for the state, according to a news release.
