Sporting goods chain closing Colorado stores

Signs at Big 5 Sporting Goods indicate plans to close multiple Colorado stores in Denver, Fort Collins, and Wheat Ridge.

DENVER — Big 5 Sporting Goods is closing its doors to several stores in Colorado.

The sporting goods store will shutter some stores in Denver, Fort Collins and Wheat Ridge, according to signs posted on the businesses’ doors and windows.

The store’s windows at 10051 E. Iliff Ave., near East Illiff Avenue and South Parker Road, are papered with “store closing” and “everything must go” sales signs.

Colorado consumer discount website Mile High on the Cheap reported that Big 5 Sporting Goods will also close a store at 1430 S. Colorado Blvd. in Denver, near South Colorado Boulevard and East Florida Avenue, and at 5185 Kipling St. in Wheat Ridge. According to Mile High on the Cheap, the stores are expected to close around Jan. 15.
