Here’s where Colorado ranks among ‘hottest real estate markets’ in U.S. – and which city is the hottest
As new states emerge as “real estate hot spots” and Americans spread out across the country, Becker & Poliakoff released a study looking at the states with the hottest and coldest real estate markets in 2026.
Colorado ended up ranking as having the 21st hottest real estate market in the U.S., according to the study.
To create the rankings, Becker & Poliakoff analyzed all 50 states and D.C. across eight metrics. The metrics included growth in home prices, rent, employment, new home purchases, construction permits, rental vacancies, housing cost burden, and population relocation.
According to the data, the annual rent increase in Colorado was 2.9%, with 12.8 home purchases per 1,000 people.
As well as ranking the states, the study also found the hottest real estate market in every state. The top metro area in Colorado was determined to be Colorado Springs, according to the study.
Although Colorado landed in the middle of the rankings for hottest real estate market, it did rank among the bottom states for annual home price growth. The Centennial State also ranked among the top states for population who moved within the past year, at 14.2%.
Idaho took the top spot as the state with the hottest real estate market. California ranked as the state with the coldest real estate market.
