Let the thaw begin.

The National Weather Service in Boulder said temperatures are expected to finally climb above freezing in Denver on Monday after three frozen days.

A Cold Weather Advisory was set to expire at 9 a.m. in Denver, the weather service said.

Meteorologists predict the high will reach 43 degrees in Denver on Monday. That’s only 1 degree colder than the average high for Jan. 26 in Denver, according to weather service data.

Expect some patchy blowing snow in Denver between 10 a.m. and noon, the weather service said, with warmer temperatures moving in by the afternoon.

The weather service said wind chills could make it feel as cold as -30 degrees in areas east of the foothills on Monday before 9 a.m. and advised people to dress in layers and cover all exposed skin. Frostbite can occur in 30 minutes or less.

Pets should be brought indoors while the Cold Weather Advisory is in effect.

Overnight lows were expected to fall to 19 degrees Monday night into Tuesday.

High temperatures this week are expected to reach the high 40s and low 50s.
