NFL free agency primer: 10 players the Broncos should consider signing

The Broncos approach free agency with the chance to fill key positions.

The negotiation window for players to agree to terms begins on March 9, and free agents can sign beginning on March 11. Some will be franchise tagged or will elect to re-sign with their current team. But here is a closer look at 10 players the Broncos should consider landing in free agency (listed in alphabetical order).

LB Devin Bush, Browns

2025 stats: 125 tackles, three interceptions (two returned for TDs), two forced fumbles and two sacks.

Bush is a former No. 10 overall draft pick (Steelers, 2019) who thrived with a change of scenery in Cleveland and more opportunity. The 27-year-old linebacker finished with an 87.6 grade from Pro Football Focus, third best among qualified players at his position. The Broncos might lose inside linebackers Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad in free agency.

S Kamren Curl, Rams

2025 stats: 122 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble and two sacks.

Curl stepped up in the NFL divisional playoffs against the Bears. He allowed just two receptions for 11 yards on four targets in coverage, according to Next Gen Stats. He logged two passes defensed including the game-sealing interception. The Broncos might prioritize adding a safety with P.J. Locke approaching free agency.

RB Breece Hall, Jets

2025 stats: 243 carries for 1,065 yards, 36 catches for 350 yards and five total touchdowns.

Hall is a former second-round pick who ascended to become a Top 10 NFL running back despite playing for the lowly Jets. The 25-year-old eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing in the final year of his rookie deal to cement himself among the league’s most coveted free-agent running backs. It would not be surprising if the Jets didn’t apply a franchise tag to Hall. But the Broncos should do their homework.

TE Isaiah Likely, Ravens

2025 stats: 27 catches for 307 yards and one touchdown.

It was a down year for Likely in comparison to his first three seasons in Baltimore, with a combined 108 receptions for 1,261 yards and 14 touchdowns. But he also missed the majority of training camp and the first three games of the season with a foot injury. The Broncos need a dynamic tight end after Evan Engram’s quiet debut in 2025. Likely could fit the mold.

LB Devin Lloyd, Jaguars

2025 stats: 81 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and one interception returned for a touchdown.

Lloyd is the most coveted inside linebacker of this free agency cycle. The Broncos need to bolster that spot. Lloyd earned Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors last season. He was PFF’s second-highest graded overall linebacker (89.1) with high marks in run defense and pass coverage. Lloyd would provide an immediate boost for the Broncos’ already talented defense.

WR George Pickens, Cowboys

2025 stats: 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns

Pickens is familiar with Bo Nix. They were photographed together in 2018 as high school football stars in Alabama. Pickens had planned to join Nix at Auburn until flipping his commitment to Georgia. Pickens would arrive in Denver as the immediate No. 1 wide receiver option. But he’s reportedly seeking at least $30 million a year in his next contract. That price tag might be too high.

TE Kyle Pitts, Falcons

2025 stats: 88 catches for 928 yards and five touchdowns

Who doesn’t love a redemption story? Pitts, a former No. 4 overall pick (2021), had a breakout rookie season before a regression. Many considered him a bust. Pitts ignored that outside noise and posted career highs in multiple stat categories. The 25-year-old has a skill set that puts him among the NFL’s best pass-catching tight ends.

LB Quay Walker, Packers

2025 stats: 128 tackles, five passes defensed and 2.5 sacks

Walker is a former first-round pick who needs a change of scenery to maximize his talents. There’s no questioning his athletic gifts to cover in space and stop ball carriers in their tracks. Consistency has been an issue at times for the 25-year-old linebacker. It’s easy to imagine Walker flourishing with the Broncos with the right pieces around him.

RB Kenneth Walker III, Seahawks

2025 stats: 221 carries for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns, 31 catches for 282 yards

Walker showcased why he is the most sought-after running back in free agency with his MVP performance in the Super Bowl. The 25-year-old running back has a patient style that would fit the zone scheme in Denver. The Seahawks will undoubtedly make a strong push to keep Walker. But he would be the Broncos’ featured back if they decided to move on from J.K. Dobbins.

CB Jaylen Watson, Chiefs

2025 stats: 64 tackles, two interceptions and two sacks

The Broncos claim arguably the NFL’s top cornerback in Pat Surtain. Adding Watson would create possibly the best tandem in the league. The only scenario that makes sense to make that happen is moving on from Riley Moss after he was flagged often last season for pass interference. Watson would be an immediate upgrade with tools to thrive in Denver’s man-coverage scheme.

That’s one for Doug. Doug Moe, who feared and loathed flying, would have loved the Nuggets’ Friday night flight of fantasy.
