The nicest day of the week weather wise is Wednesday, with temperatures jumping above seasonal averages into the upper 70s.

Denver residents can expect mostly sunny skies, with a high near 76, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. South southwest winds to blow between 6 to 8 mph become west northwest in the afternoon.

Tonight it’ll be partly cloudy, with a low around 47. West northwest winds between 5 to 7 mph become south in the evening.

A fire weather watch is in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday for much of the southern Front Range foothills, South Park, central eastern Plains and the Palmer Divide. Low relative humidity and windy conditions pose a threat of wildfire in those areas.

A big change happens on Friday as snow showers enter the city, with precipitation starting as rain and switching to snow late Friday night. Snow showers will continue into Saturday morning.

Potential snowfall accumulations of between 3-7 inches is forecast, with the lower end total being farther east of I-25 and the higher end total being in the western and southern suburbs.

Thursday: A 20% chance of showers after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming northwest 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph.

Friday: Snow showers. High near 38. North northeast wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Saturday: A 50% chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 62.
