Movie rundown for the weekend through April 13: ‘The Amateur’ opens
OPENING
“The Amateur” — (Action, PG-13, 123 minutes). After his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack, a CIA cryptographer is determined to find those responsible for her death.
“The Ballad of Wallis Island” — (Comedy, PG-13, 99 minutes). After winning the lottery, Charles, who lives alone on a remote island, dreams of getting his favorite band, McGwyer Mortimer, back together by asking them to play a private concert at his home.
“The Chosen: Last Supper Part 3” — (Drama, not rated, 194 minutes). Jesus’ enemies assemble for a manhunt as Jesus and his followers gather for a Passover meal.
“Drop” — (Drama, PG-13, 95 minutes). A widowed mother starts wondering if her charming date is the one sending threatening messages to her phone.
“Good Bad Ugly” — (Action, not rated, 153 minutes). A man tries to change his violent ways so he can live peacefully with his family but his dark past follows him.
“Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon” — (Animation, not rated, 110 minutes). A group of Defense Force volunteers try to defeat an army of Kaiju.
“The King of Kings” — (Animation, PG, 100 minutes). The story of Jesus Christ is seen through the eyes of a child and told by Charles Dickens.
“One to One: John & Yoko” — (Documentary, R, 100 minutes). Tells about John and Yoko’s life in 1972 in New York and centers on the One to One charity concert they did to benefit special needs children.
“Sacramento” — (Comedy, R, 84 minutes). A free-spirited young man and his friend, who has settled into domestic life, go on a road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento.
“Secret Mall Apartment” — (Documentary, not rated, 91 minutes). In 2003, eight Rhode Islanders filmed everything for four years while living in a secret apartment inside a busy mall.
“Warfare” — (Action, R, 95 minutes minutes). The story of the chaos and brotherhood of war as told through the memory of a group of Navy SEALs who embarked on a dangerous mission in Ramadi, Iraq.

“A Minecraft Movie” — (Action, PG, 101 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. Four misfits are pulled into a mysterious and bizarre cubic land.
“A Working Man” — (Action, R, 116 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. Levon Cade has left his past profession as a legendary figure in the world of counterterrorism and is living an everyday life working in construction. But when a local college student goes missing, he is asked to use his skills to find her.
“The Alto Knights” — (Drama, R, 120 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. The tale of two Italian Americans, Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, who were rivals for control of a prominent crime family during the mid-20th century.
“Black Bag” — (Drama, R, 93 minutes). Grade: A, Katie Walsh. Intelligence agent Kathryn Woodhouse’s legendary agent husband must decide to be loyal to his country or his marriage after Kathryn is suspected of betraying her nation.
“Captain America: Brave New World” — (Action, PG-13, 118 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. When the new Captain America, Sam Wilson, becomes involved in an international incident, he must uncover the motive behind a nefarious global plan.
“The Chosen: Last Supper Part 1” — (Drama, not rated, 130 minutes). When Jesus arrives in the holy city as king, he finds that his Father’s house of prayer has been turned into a corrupt market.
“The Chosen: Last Supper Part 2” — (Drama, not rated, 172 minutes). Afraid of public outcry, Caiaphas wants to arrest Jesus quietly at night, but no one knows where to find him.
“The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” — (Animation, PG, 91 minutes). Porky Pig and Daffy Duck are the only two who can help when Earth faces the threat of an alien invasion.
“Death of a Unicorn” — (Comedy, R, 104 minutes). Grade: B-, Michael Phillips. While driving to a retreat, Elliott and his daughter Ridley hit a unicorn. When they bring the dead unicorn to the retreat, Elliott’s billionaire boss wants to exploit its curative powers.
“Dog Man” — (Adventure, PG, 89 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Half dog and half man, Dog Man pursues a feline supervillain named Petey the Cat.
“The Encampments” — (Documentary, not rated, 82 minutes). To pressure the university to divest from the U.S. and Israeli weapons companies, Columbia University students created the Gaza Solidarity Encampment on the university’s lawn.
“Freaky Tales” — (Action, R, 106 minutes). Tells of the love of music, movies and people with four interconnected stories from Oakland, Calif., in 1987.
“The Friend” — (Drama, R, 120 minutes). Iris’s life is thrown into disarray after her friend and mentor dies and leaves her his Great Dane.
“Heart Eyes” — (Horror, R, 97 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. As done in the past, the Heart Eyes Killer will be stalking and murdering romantic couples again this Valentine’s Day.
“Hell of a Summer” — (Dark Comedy, R, 88 minutes). A masked killer is murdering counselors at Camp Pineway.
“The Last Supper” — (Drama, PG-13, 114 minutes). Reveals untold perspectives of those who walked beside Jesus Christ.
“Locked” — (Horror, R, 95 minutes). After breaking into a luxury SUV, a thief discovers he is part of a psychological game of horror.
“The Luckiest Man in America” — (Drama, R, 90 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Based on a real story about an unemployed ice cream truck driver who appeared on the game show “Press Your Luck” in 1984 with a secret about how to win endless amounts of money.
“Mickey 17” — (Action, R, 137 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. An expendable named Mickey 17 takes a dangerous journey to try to colonize an ice planet.
“Paddington in Peru” — (Adventure, PG, 101 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. While in Peru visiting his Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears, Paddington and the Brown family end up on a thrilling adventure after a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey.
“Párvulos: Children of the Apocalypse” — (Horror, not rated, 119 minutes). A dark secret is hidden in the basement of the cabin in the woods where three brothers live.
“The Penguin Lessons” — (Drama, PG-13, 110 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. While teaching in Argentina, an Englishman’s life is changed after he adopts a penguin that was rescued from an oil-slicked beach.
