Denver weather: Snow and cold are back Tuesday. Here’s how much the city could see

Snow is returning to Denver and the metro area Tuesday, here are the details.

Snow is likely Tuesday, mainly after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Expect cloudy conditions, with a high near 23. Wind chill values as low as -2. North northeast wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

A winter weather advisory in is effect from 2 p.m., Tuesday to 11 a.m., Wednesday for all seven metro Denver counties for snow accumulations of between 2-6 inches. The Plains east of Denver could receive 2-6 inches of snow as well, with the most accumulations north of U.S. Highway 50 east of Pueblo to the Kansas border.

Snow accumulations of between 4-8 inches in the Front Range Mountains west of Denver and Fort Collins are also possible.

Tonight we’ll see snow with a low around 3. Wind chill values as low as -7 will accompany north winds between 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Thursday warms up slightly, but snow chances are back for Friday and the start of the President’s Day weekend.

Wednesday: Snow, mainly before 11 a.m. High near 17. Wind chill values as low as -8. North northeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 40. South wind around 7 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.

Friday: A slight chance of rain and snow before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 53. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34.
