Herd of bison floods road in ‘Colorado-style’ traffic jam

An odd type of traffic jam took place in Colorado on March 18, when a herd of bison flooded a road in the area of the town of Deer Trail.

According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, the herd belonged to a local, breaking out of their enclosure while the owner was out of town.

Three police cruisers responded to the incident when the bison were spotted galloping down County Road 38 at about 2 p.m. The bison were successfully herded off of the road with the help of the officers and a local sheriff’s deputy.

The bison were ultimately returned back to their home pasture, located south of Byers, shortly after law enforcement helped with the situation. The owner’s nephew on a 4-wheeler, along with another rancher, were able to get them back to where they belonged.
