Snowmobiler dead after getting hurt in remote Colorado
A 38-year-old snowmobiler has died in Colorado’s Rio Blanco County after getting injured on February 25.
Emergency services received a call for help at about 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, activated via a Garmin device and calling for assistance in the Sand Peak area. This area is quite remote, located about 45 miles northeast of Meeker and only accessible via snowmobile.
The GPS message noted that the 38-year-old male was hurt and non-responsive.
Meeker Fire and Rescue, Rio Blanco County Search and Rescue, Classic Air Medical, and the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to provide medical assistance. Despite life-saving efforts, the male was ultimately pronounced deceased.
Condolences go out to those impacted by this death. The identification has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
