No. 12 Colorado School of Mines football overpowers Adams State

The Colorado School of Mines offense found its groove Saturday against Adams State in Alamosa.

The No. 12-ranked Orediggers put up a season-high 638 yards of offense, including 288 yards rushing, in a 56-14 rout. The win moved Mines to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the RMAC.

A fast start on offense powered Mines to a 35-14 lead at halftime.

Quarterback Evan Foster was 25 of 31 for 326 yards and four touchdowns, plus 57 yards on the ground. He also caught a touchdown courtesy of a trick play from Landon Walker. Walker ran for a score of his own from 44 yards.

It was the first career touchdown pass for Walker, who played quarterback in high school at Keller (Texas) Central. Foster became the first Orediggers quarterback to catch a touchdown since John Matocha from Michael Zeman against Fort Lewis in 2019.

Flynn Schiele (133 yards, two touchdowns) and Max McLeod (111 yards, touchdown) went over 100 yards for the second-straight game. Jack Walters contributed an additional touchdown and Braelon Tate and Joseph Capra added rushing touchdowns.

The Orediggers returns home next Saturday for a big RMAC showdown with Western Colorado (7-0, 5-0). Kickoff is at noon in Golden.
