Pedestrian killed in Tuesday Aurora crash

The driver remained at the scene to help investigations

The Aurora Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that left one pedestrian dead Tuesday evening.

Traffic detectives responded to a crash on Chambers Road, just north of East Colfax Avenue in the Norfolk Glen neighborhood, around 9:30 p.m., according to a social media post by the department.

A Chevrolet sedan had struck a pedestrian as he crossed Chambers Road, mid-block outside of the crosswalk, just north of Colfax Avenue. The pedestrian died on the scene.

The driver remained at the scene to assist with the investigation. The department did not say whether speed or alcohol were a factor in the incident.

The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim following investigations.

There were 63 pedestrian-automotive deaths in the state between Jan. 1 and Oct. 3 this year, a significant drop from the 94 in the same time period last year, according to data from the Colorado Department of Transportation.
