Douglas County woman arrested on DUI charges after allegedly hitting boy on bike
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 31-year-old woman after she allegedly struck a boy crossing the street on an e-bike and left the scene.
Deputies responded to the area of Inverness Parkway and South Jamaica Street — east of Park Meadows Mall — Wednesday following a report of a hit-and-run involving a boy riding an e-bike across the street.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries, according to a social media post by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Using traffic cameras, investigators were able to identify the vehicle, which was heading into Arapahoe County. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office was then able to locate the vehicle and arrest the driver, handing her over to Douglas County deputies.
The suspect was taken to the Douglas County Detention Facility and was booked on suspicion of five charges that include driving while under the influence of alcohol, careless driving causing bodily injury, driving on an expired license and more.
The sheriff’s office did not identify the suspect at this time.
