Everyone’s favorite annual ranking was released by Orkin pest control service on Monday, highlighting which American spots have the worst bed bug infestations.

Denver was the only Coloradan city to make their list of the ‘top 50’ most infested spots, ranking in the same place compared to when a similar report was released last year – 15th.

Nationwide, the top-ranking spot for bed bug infestations was Chicago, followed by New York and Philadelphia – all hanging on to their same rank as the 2023 report.

The list was created based on treatment data from metro areas where Orkin conducted the most bed bug treatments, both in residential and commercial spaces.

According to Orkin, the best way to prevent a serious bed bug infestation is to inspect the home for signs of bed bugs on a regular basis. Don’t forget to check mattress tags, seams, behind baseboards, headboards, electrical outlets, and picture frames. Decreasing clutter around the home can also be key, as can the careful inspection of all second-hand furniture prior to bringing it into the home.
