Wednesday’s weather around Denver is going to be soggy and slushy as the day marches on.

Denver residents can expect rain and snow showers likely before noon, then rain showers likely between noon and 3 p.m., then a chance of snow showers after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

It will be cloudy with a high near 42 and a northeast wind to blow between 6 to 10 mph, becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

A quick moving storm system will bring snow to the mountains, foothills, and South Park through tonight. Snowfall totals of 4 to 10 inches are forecast through tonight, with slick travel possible at times. Across the urban corridor, rain showers will mix with snow at times with little or no accumulation expected.

Looking at Wednesday night, a 40% chance of snow showers, mainly before 11 p.m., exists and it will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 31, the NWS said. A north northwest wind will blow around 6 mph, becoming south after midnight. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
