Pennsylvania man arrested in connection to Arvada sextortion
The Arvada Police Department arrested a 25-year-old man from Pennsylvania in connection to an extortion investigation over sexually explicit images.
David Ajiri turned himself in to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of criminal extortion on Monday, according to a news release from the APD.
Investigators believe Ajiri targeted women and girls as young as 14 years old across the country since at least 2018, including some in Arvada.
Ajiri is suspected of using dating apps and social media to contact women. He then would allegedly convince victims to send sexual images or videos in exchange for payment. He would use fake transaction receipts to make it appear he had paid other women, according to the release.
The man also allegedly posed as women to corroborate his claims that he would pay the victims.
Investigators found that victims were never paid, and when the victims confronted him, he would threaten to send their images or videos to friends or family members unless they provided more content or money.
