A body was found early Sunday in Delta County, along U.S. Highway 50 just outside the city of Delta near Westwinds Airport, prompting a fatal crash investigation by the Colorado State Patrol.
Around 5:06 a.m., a driver contacted Mesa County dispatchers, saying they believed they may have struck someone, according to CSP.
Investigators later determined the pedestrian had been hit multiple times in the westbound left lane. Two drivers have come forward and are cooperating with authorities, but evidence suggests a third vehicle may also have been involved, authorities say.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, westbound Highway 50 was closed around 5:40 a.m. and reopened by approximately 8 a.m.
The Colorado State Patrol’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call CSP Dispatch at 970‑249‑4392 and reference case number 5C250787.
