Boulder County chase leads to recovery of stolen catalytic converter, handgun, ammunition
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen SUV, a stolen catalytic convert, a stolen handgun and 200 rounds of ammunition following a short pursuit Monday morning.
Deputies located a suspicious black Chevrolet Tahoe that had no license plates in the area of Williams Fork Trail and East Spine Road. Officials followed the vehicle and observed it traveling erratically.
A traffic stop was attempted next to a neighborhood near Lookout Road and Idylwild Street, but the driver continued.
A perimeter was established using patrol units from BCSO and the Colorado State Patrol, which resulted in the Tahoe running over stop sticks at an exit point, which punctured the Tahoe’s front tires, according to a news release.
Two men exited the vehicle and fled on foot, but were not located.
A search by law enforcement ensued, which included establishing another perimeter, the use of drones, a K9 team and several Boulder County Regional SWAT Team operators on foot.
The SWAT team searched the vehicle and located 200 rounds of handgun ammunition, two handguns and a catalytic converter in the stolen Tahoe.
Anyone with information regarding the incident or knowledge of the suspects are urged to contact the sheriff’s office at 303-441-4444 and reference case number 21-2544.
