King Soopers, union reach tentative agreement

King Soopers and the union representing many of its employees have reached a tentative agreement, the union announced Thursday.
United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 7 said union leadership met with King Soopers and City Market on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and that after working all night Wednesday into Thursday, they reached a three-year agreement with the company.
The provisions of what the union called the “all gains, no concessions” agreement include improved health care and pension benefits and pay increases. The union said full details of the agreement will be available at ratification vote meetings. The dates of those meetings have not been determined.
“We are pleased that we have reached a fully recommended tentative agreement with UFCW Local 7,” a representative from King Soopers said in a statement. “This offer allows us to put more money in our associates’ paychecks and maintain affordable health care; while also securing their pensions for retirement and we are eager for our associates to vote on it.”
