[WATCH] Bear chases skier down resort run in terrifying video

Don’t worry, Colorado slopegoers – this incident happened thousands of miles away in Romania, but the video is just too insane not to share.

Watch the videos embedded below to see multiple angles of a bear chasing a skier down a long portion of an on-resort run at Predeal skiing area while people on a nearby ski lift witness the scene unfold from above.

David Creta, the Youtuber that uploaded the second video featured below, stated that people on the chair lift attempted to distract the bear or scare it off with loud noises and yells, though that was unsuccessful. According to Creta, the move that eventually got the bear to end its pursuit was when the fleeing skier threw their backpack to the ground. The bear then stopped chasing and lingered at the backpack to investigate.

Here’s a second angle:

While there hasn’t been a report of a bear chasing a skier on a resort in Colorado in recent years, a similar incident did happen that involved a moose. In that incident, a moose was captured on video charging after a snowboarder in Breckenridge.

If you ever encounter wildlife on one of Colorado’s trails or ski runs, keep your distance. Never attempt to feed or lure any animal. If you’re on a resort and spot an animal lurking that may be dangerous, let ski patrol know.
