Aurora opens applications to residents for COVID rental assistance program

The city of Aurora is accepting applications for the third round of its COVID-19 rental assistance program, providing funds for residents struggling to pay leases due to financial impacts from the pandemic.

Applications will be accepted until distributed funds reach $1 million, provided on a first-come-first-serve basis.

To qualify, residents must have an active lease inside city limits, prove financial hardship due to COVID-19, make 80% or less of the area median income and not receive other public housing support or vouchers.

Those who received funds from previous rental assistance rounds are still eligible. Citizenship is not required to receive funds. Mortgage payments are not offered through this program.

This round of the rental assistance program is funded by a Community Development Block Grant of $1 million.

The last two rounds provided rental assistance for more than 560 Aurora households, totaling $2 million in funds given.

Applications and full eligibility requirement are available at auroragov.org/RentAssist and in Spanish at auroragov.org/AyudaRenta. Questions should be directed to [email protected].
