Summit County enacts 10 p.m. curfew, opens new testing site

Officials from Summit County announced heightened restrictions and a new COVID-19 testing location because of the recent spike in cases.

Elisabeth Lawrence, a county commissioner, announced on Facebook on Wednesday evening that the county has increased to Level Orange, which reverses capacity limits for restaurants and retail businesses.

Lawrence also said the county is enacting a 10 p.m. curfew to go along with the new level from the state.

“Summit County was trying desperately to avoid a stay-at-home (order),” Lawrence said in the video.

To continue to combat the rising number of COVID-19 cases within the county, health officials announced the plans to open a new community testing site in Silverthorne for county residents and neighboring communities on Friday.

Testing will be free and available to anyone in the community who wishes to be tested. The location will open Friday at 9 a.m. at 464-478 Fourth St. in Silverthorne.

The location will be open seven days a week until further notice, according to a news release.
