3 police departments engage in multi-city high-speed chase of Lakewood carjacker

A high-speed chase involving three Colorado police departments and a carjacking suspect ended in Englewood on Wednesday afternoon.

Multiple suspects are in custody, according to the Lakewood Police Department.

The chase was in pursuit of an alleged Lakewood carjacker who, on Monday, stole a vehicle from two elderly women in the 400 block of Benton Street, police said.

The suspect ran both women over with the stolen vehicle as he left the scene, police said.

Both victims, ages 88 and 76, were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Their status is unknown.

Lakewood police said the pursuit involved its department, the Denver Police Department and the Englewood Police Department.

The chase ended in Englewood in the area of South University Boulevard and East Girard Place, police said.

Multiple suspects are in custody, police said.

The suspect was described as an 18- to 20-year-old Hispanic male, 6-foot-2 who was last seen wearing a hat and red cloth mask.
