A 55-year-old motorcyclist died in a fatal crash with a pickup truck that closed Hwy 93 near Arvada Tuesday afternoon, Colorado State Patrol said.

Investigators believe that the motorcyclist and pickup truck collided on the highway, blocking the northbound lanes, CSP said in a Tuesday evening news release. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash, which authorities say occurred just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, took place near the intersection of the highway and West 64 Avenue, near Jeffco North Area Stadium, CSP said.

The road was initially closed for the investigation, CSP said. It was reopen as of 6 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation’s COTrip Map.
