Aurora police arrested a registered sex offender Friday on allegations he kidnapped an 11-year-old girl on her way to school and sexually assaulted her.
Shukurani Mulenda, 31, faces charges of second-degree kidnapping and sex assault on a child.
The girl was walking to the bus stop Friday morning when Mulenda allegedly grabbed her arm, took her to his nearby apartment at 1442 Macon Street and assaulted her, according to the Aurora Police Department.
“She was able to escape the suspect’s home and found a community member to help her call 911,” according to police.
Investigators were able to get a search warrant to search Mulenda’s apartment. They’re not sure if there’s other victims.
