Mini Cooper engulfed in flames after crash near entrance to popular Colorado park
Colorado State Patrol has opened an investigation into a crash that occurred near a popular park in Jefferson County.
According to a report on the matter, the crash occurred around mile marker 13 of Highway 74 at about 4:13 p.m. on May 11. The scene of the crash was in the area of the entrance to Lair ‘O The Bear park.
Per the preliminary investigation, the Mini Cooper that was involved in the crash went off the right shoulder of the roadway, striking an upward embankment. It then re-entered the roadway and rotated before rolling down an embankment on the right side of the road.
While the Mini Cooper came to rest on its wheels, it caught on fire. A 66-year-old male from Evergreen was removed from the vehicle by passersby who also performed CPR on the man. He was then transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
