Commerce City police are investigating Wednesday after a five-vehicle crash killed one person and sent at least two others to local hospitals.

The crash happened on Highway 85 near the 11900 block according to a post on the Commerce City Police Department X account, shared at 5:41 a.m. on Wednesday. That’s just to the north of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal.

Commerce City police said the crash is believed to be DUI related.

The driver, who police believe caused the crash, was injured and taken to a hospital. One other individual was also taken to a hospital, police said.

Highway 85 was shut down for about three hours while police investigated the crash.

The person who was killed will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s office.
