Witnesses told police the two teens, both 17 years old and seen dressed in black in the video, flashed handguns tucked in their waistbands and demanded that passengers hand over items from their pockets. Police said the teens were involved in at least three assaults at or near the station.
Authorities said the man seen wearing gray in the video was confronted by the teens before the fight erupted on the RTD station platform, seen in the video. He is the victim police are trying to find.
“Our work is not complete before we ensure they are safe. If you know who that victim might be, we ask that you reach out so that we can close that loop,” Aurora police said in a post on an official X account.
When police arrived on the scene, they found the two suspects trying to drag a victim into the roadway.
The two suspects were arrested. One teen was arrested on suspicion of robbery, criminal attempt, three counts of third-degree assault, possession of a handgun by a juvenile and theft related to the stolen handgun. The other was arrested on suspicion of the same charges as the first teen, and also a menacing with a deadly weapon charge, police said.
Police said they recovered a stolen firearm, believed to be from Tennessee.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867. Tipsters could be eligible for up to $2,000 in reward money and can remain anonymous.
