New King Soopers store opens in Louisville
There’s another new King Soopers in the Denver metro area.
The Colorado-based grocery chain owned by Kroger opened a new location in Louisville on Wednesday. The 135,000-square-foot store is located off of Highway 36 — just before the scenic overlook facing the Flatirons — at 1171 W. Dillon Road.
The new location is one of King Soopers Marketplace stores, a larger format store design that includes extra features like a sushi department, Murray’s Cheese Shop, Starbucks, a larger home and lifestyle section and a drive-thru pharmacy. It also includes a fuel center with 10 pumps.
“This new Marketplace allows us to offer Louisville customers expanded selection, added convenience and the fresh, affordable food they count on every day,” said Chris Albi, president of King Soopers, in a news release. “We’re proud to continue serving Louisville in a modern space that reflects and connects with the local neighborhood.”
The newly-constructed store was a $23.6 million investment from King Soopers and added more than 200 jobs, the company said. It’s open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
King Soopers has been growing across the state with the opening of the Louisville store and the new store in Denver on South Colorado Boulevard that replaced and nearly doubled the size of the Belcaro store. The Louisville location marks the 156th King Soopers store.
The company plans to open another store in Parker later this year and has 17 store remodels in its pipeline.
