Man facing murder charge after wife found dead in Denver
A man faces a first-degree murder charge after his wife was found dead Sunday morning in Denver.
Denver Police Department said officers were called at about 11:40 a.m. to the 1500 block of South Xavier Street after a man, identified as Herman Antonio Sisneros, 41, requested officers be sent to his home. A STAR team responded and learned Sisneros’ wife was dead.
Denver’s STAR (Denver’s Support Team Assisted Response) sends mental health professionals to calls when warranted, as opposed to officers.
She was found in the home’s backyard with a wound in her abdomen. Police wrote in an arrest affidavit that it was undetermined what caused the wound.
Sisneros was placed into custody at the scene after his wife’s death was determined to be suspicious in nature. She was not identified by police.
Sisneros was allegedly vague with the 911 dispatcher when he called to ask for assistance, but mentioned having an argument, according to his arrest affidavit. Investigators spoke with neighbors, who said police had been at the house the day prior to respond to a domestic disturbance.
Sisneros was booked into the Denver Downtown Detention Center. In addition to the first-degree murder charge, he also faces an attempted first-degree murder charge and an escape-from-jail charge. It is unclear what those charges stem from.
