Denver police investigating a homicide in Valverde neighborhood

Denver police are investigating a homicide that occurred in the Valverde neighborhood Friday afternoon, officials said. 

Officers were dispatched near West Alameda Avenue and South Raritan Street just after 4:30 p.m. after multiple reports of a shooting.

Following the shooting, the victim, described as an adult male, was driven by someone currently unknown to police to a hospital where he later died, said Kurt Barns, a public information officer for the Denver Police Department. 

Currently West Alameda Avenue is closed from South Pecos Street to South Raritan Street as investigators are on the scene.

Authorities are encouraging anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 913-720-7867
