Denver weather: Hot highs and early afternoon showers Wednesday

Denver is forecast for hot temperatures Wednesday and a chance of early afternoon showers, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
There’s a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m. Expect partly sunny skies and a high of 87 degrees.
“Scattered thunderstorms will move from the mountains in the afternoon onto the plains in the late afternoon and evening,” the NWS said. “While storms will be less numerous and less intense than the last several days, there is still potential for localized heavy rain, wind gusts up to 60 mph, and small hail with some of the storms.”
Looking ahead to Wednesday night, a 30% chance of thunderstorms persist, mainly through 8 p.m. Expect a low of 58 degrees.
Temperatures are anticipated to increase through the weekend with highs topping out in the 90s by Friday. A slight chance of showers returns to the area on Sunday afternoon.
