Denver weather: Showers return as heat lingers Tuesday

Denver residents can expect a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

It’ll be mostly sunny with a high near 95 and south southeast winds to blow between 6 to 11 mph, becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

“Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected again,” the NWS said.

“Gusty outflow winds to 50 mph and brief heavy rain are likely with the stronger thunderstorms. The flash flood threat will be limited to the flood prone areas where a quick half inch could produce flash flooding or debris flows. A couple severe thunderstorms will also be possible with hail up to one inch and 60 mph wind gusts.”

Tonight, expect a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Southeast wind 6 to 11 mph becoming south southwest in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday: A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 95. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between noon and 3 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms likely after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming east southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Friday: A slight chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms likely after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 83.
