Fatal motorcycle crash shuts down Aurora roads

A fatal crash involving an SUV and motorcycle caused Aurora police to shut down parts of South Havana Street.

Police responded to a crash report around 9 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of South Havana Street and East Tennessee Avenue, according to a social media post from the Aurora Police Department.

A man riding the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene, the department said. Two adults in the SUV were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

As of 10 a.m., all northbound lanes of Havana Street are closed at East Mississippi Avenue and two of the southbound lanes are closed at East Tennessee Avenue.

South Dayton Street and South Peoria Street are set as the best detours to move north and south and avoid the scene, the department noted.

The Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Unit reported to the scene to investigate and is believed to keep the roadway closed until around 11 a.m.
