A Weld County jail deputy was apprehended Thursday after allegedly having an intimate relationship with at least one inmate, according to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Hillyer, 32, of Greeley has been employed by the jail for three years and now faces one count of sexual conduct in a correctional institution, a Class 5 felony. He is currently on non-paid administrative leave, according to the release.
Hillyer was initially placed on paid administrative leave on June 29 after allegations about an alleged affair were reported. This prompted an extensive investigation that was conducted by the jail’s internal affairs division and sheriff’s office criminal investigation unit.
Additional information regarding the alleged incident could not be released due to an ongoing investigation, said Joe Moylan, a public information office for the sheriff’s office.
An initial court date had not been scheduled at the time of publishing.
