Mountain View Fire officials are investigating two suspicious fires that ignited at an abandoned sugar mill outside of Longmont on Wednesday.
Boulder County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of large, visible flames at an abandoned sugar mill at 11939 Sugar Mill Road, according to news release.
Longmont Fire officials were the first to arrive on scene and immediately started suppressing the fire on an outdoor debris pit.
While officials were combating the flames in the debris pit, a second fire ignited in the main building that was approximately 10 feet by 10 feet, according to the release.
Shortly after the second fire ignited, Mountain View Fire arrived and took over incident command and the fire investigation.
After both fires had been ignited, officials deemed the cause as “suspicious” and are investigating the cause of the blazes.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the fires.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Longmont Fire Department, Longmont Police Department, Longmont Emergency Unit, Mountain View Fire Department.
