Denver Pride and The Center on Colfax are hosting their annual PrideFest and Pride Parade in celebration of Pride month, events meant to spark joy and bring together members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.

Pride month is celebrated each June in honor of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, a pivotal moment for the Gay Liberation Movement, according to the Library of Congress.

Denver residents will find an abundance of Pride events this weekend, hosted by both Denver Pride and other local organizations.

RTD impacts, adjustments & street closures

In anticipation of this weekend’s Pride events as well as concerts and other must-do events in Denver, RTD has adjusted its routes and schedule for the following areas:

Cheesman Park neighborhood: RTD will implement several detours in the neighborhood, including vehicle access around the park for the Pride 5k from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 27. RTD customers can use Routes 10 and 12 west of Corona Street or east of York Street during the closure.

Impacted bus routes on Saturday: RTD customers can use the 16th Street FreeRide, which will be relocated to 15th and 17th streets between Lawrence Street and Broadway. Additionally, routes 8, 19, 32, 48 and ART.

Easy Transfers: Use the Flatiron Flyer and local Routes 0, 9, 10, 15, 20 and 32 to transfer to the C, E or W lines at Denver Union Station.

Pridefest impacts: 16th Street will begin road closures on Saturday, June 27 starting at 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday, June 28 from Broadway to Lawrence Street. The free ride located on 15th and 17th streets will run between Union Station and Lawrence Street, operating on its regular schedule.

Pride Parade: The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Franklin Street and 17th Avenue, traveling down 17th Avenue, ending at Lincoln Street. The parade is expected to last until 10 a.m. Customers should expect closures, delays and detours in the downtown and Capitol Hill areas.

Impacted bus routes on Saturday: Plan accordingly if you take routes 0, 1, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 15L, 16, 19, 20, 48 and 52. Civic Center is closed, so customers can board the 83L on Broadway at 13th Avenue.

Denver Pride 5k

What: Denver Pride is calling this the ‘Gayest race of the year.’ Show up in your running shoes or heels because literally anybody can run or catwalk 3.1 miles. Funds from the registration go to help support local programs and resources for the LGBTQ+ community.

Pride Parade

What: Strut through downtown Denver and show off your Pride. Whether you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, just an ally or really love rainbows and sparkles, you are sure to feel the love, joy and acceptance from this community. The parade will feature local businesses, families, public figures and activists showing their support for the community. Expect to see floats, dancing, music and self-expression, according to organizers.

Where: 17th Ave & Franklin St., Denver, CO

Bubbles and Boas Brunch

What: A choose-your-own-adventure type of drag brunch in the park featuring over 15 food trucks, local coffee roasters and a full bar with mimosas and craft cocktails. The brunch takes place in Cheesman Park, colliding with the end of the Pride 5K, so you can cheer on your friends or just grab a bite and watch the excitement. With a lineup of drag performances by FUPA and House of Misdemeanor, it won’t be a ‘chill’ brunch in the park.

Pride Festival

What: The festival has relocated to 16th Street this year and features a street fair with vendors selling merchandise, art and services. Attendees can find community resources and advocacy groups, DJ sets and live music, drag performances and appearances from public figures. This year’s PrideFest features drag performances from Pattie Gonia & The Nini Coco.

Pride Block Party & Drag Show

What: The Pride festivities don’t stop at 16th Street, with the color and fun trickling down to the Dairy Block near Union Station. The block party will feature a drag show hosted by Jazmine James and DJ Markie and DJ sets and live music. Dairy Block gets taken over with funky artists, raffles and prizes and more.
